THE PRELIMINARY SESSION
What to expect the first time we meet
This preliminary session is a little different to following sessions, so perhaps you'd like to hear what to expect:

This is an opportunity for you to ask me any questions that you might have about biblical counselling and the service I provide - it’s ok if you know very little about what is involved! It is also ok if you don’t have any questions at all!
I'll ask some questions to get to know you better and to find out a bit more about what has brought you to this point
If you feel able to open up in this first session, I will also share my initial thoughts and observations, as well as give a general outline of what our time together might look like should you choose to enter into a counselling arrangement.
It takes courage to enquire about counselling, and a first session with any kind of counsellor or therapist can be nerve-wracking. I will try to help put you at ease. Most people tell me what a sense of relief they feel after the initial meet up.
There is no need for you to pray out loud at our sessions together but as prayer is key to what I do, (as long as you feel comfortable) I would love to pray out loud as we close.
You may have read on my fees page that this preliminary session costs £65. This is prepaid before our meeting together, once we have arranged a date and time. Following sessions cost a bit less at £50 per hour-long session, and are invoiced at the end of a block of sessions. All sessions can be cancelled or rearranged free-of-charge, providing it is done so with at least 48hrs notice.
Please let me know if money is a stumbling block, and we can explore together whether financial support is available at this time. I genuinely look forward to getting to know you better and seeing God's steadfast faithfulness in your particular situation!
