COUNSELLING & TRAINING

I divide up my work hours between these different strands of Biblical counselling pastoral care. I love growing these services to best suit the needs of individuals and church families.  I offer two types of one-to-one session, and am involved in two kinds of training.

BIBLICAL COUNSELLING

One to one counselling, centred around the Bible. Life can be messy and overwhelming.  Even Christians find ourselves in the midst of complicated circumstances, serious temptation, or difficult feelings - sometimes towards God.  Counselling is a safe space to detangle living in a broken-world. A time to process overwhelm and hurt of the past and present, I am passionate about helping you to access afresh the hope we have in Christian faith.

FAITH CHECK-INS

One-to-one discipleship conversations ...with a biblical counselling flavour. Not everyone is struggling. But we all have areas of our lives it would be helpful to crystalise. A lighter format than counselling these are stimulating, one-to-one conversations sharpening one another in scripture. Time set aside to invest in personal growth, brainstorming life lived before the Lord. 'Faith Check-ins' can nourish you in your own serving, helping you to keep abiding in Him as you give.  These also make great follow-up options once formal counselling has ended.

BCUK CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Training for individuals wishing to grow in bible-focused pastoral care. Can you spare around ten hours a week over a twelve week period? This part time course is produced by CCEF (Christian counselling Education Foundation) and is now ran by BCUK (Biblical counselling United Kingdom). It is a course all about careful handling of scripture in our conversations with others. The program aims to develop a culture of care in the local church, and people often find the biggest benefit to studying with us is their own deepening faith as they are first encouraged to biblically counsel their own hearts before the Lord to better love those around us. I tutor this course in the South West, at Widcombe Baptist Church Bath. The first module takes 12 weeks and is a great taster to see whether you might like to study with us further. PASTORAL CARE SEMINARS

Church training, to encourage a culture of care rooted in Scripture. I love to link my biblical counselling learning and experiences in to my teaching for churches, CUs, weekends away and conferences. I am passionate about exciting churches in biblical pastoral care, helping us all to engage in bringing gospel hope to life's struggles. Check out my 'Resources' page to get a taster of the sorts of topics I frequently teach.
